The inaugural CUMEG Assessment Course was held at Homerton College on Tuesday, 18 November 2025. Participants reviewed the educational rationale underpinning good assessment, discussed and debated different types of written and skills-based assessment used in common medical education practice and had the opportunity to write and standard set their own assessments.
The interactive day was attended by a broad spectrum of medical educators, from across the UK and Europe, with a range of knowledge and experience of assessment. There was a real buzz in the room as participants worked together designing and planning assessments and exploring how different approaches might apply to their local contexts.
To complete the day, there was a discussion about national perspectives and how best to quality assure assessment processes.
It was a very successful day, with plenty of opportunities to exchange knowledge and experience with other educators as well as hearing from the CUMEG team about assessment core principles and practice.
